Tips On How Students Can Manage Their Finance While Studying Abroad.

Studying abroad is an exciting yet expensive affair. Most countries, other than the United States, allow international students to work off campus while studying. In USA Universities, international students are permitted to work on campus for a maximum of 20 hours per week. While other countries, too, have a similar limitation on the number of hours, international students are permitted to find jobs off campus as well. For instance, in Canada colleges, you can apply for a permit that allows you to work off campus for 20 hours per week during the academic session and 40 hours per week during vacations. The rules are not very different for students who wish to study in Universities in UK and Australian Universities.

By working on and off campus, you can expect to earn sufficient funds for your personal expenses and sometimes even living expenses. But very rarely will you be able to fund your entire education from this income.

Students unable to work on or off campus can always apply for funding from the university itself. Most universities in the USA and some Canadian Universities and Universities in Australia offer students graduate assistantships. It is an award which pays for your entire tuition fee as well as a monthly stipend which helps you take care of your living expenses. Students who get such assistantships can work as teaching assistants or research assistants. Assistantships are extremely competitive and are granted to students with excellent grades and, at times, to those with work experience.

If you do not land up with Assistantship or an on- or- off campus job, you can still apply to the university for merit- or- need based funding. Many Universities in Canada, UK, USA, Australia, Singapore offer scholarships to students with excellent grades. Such scholarships are evidently not only competitive but also based on need. Thus, if you can demonstrate that you actually require the funds, you may have a better chance at receiving them directly from the university. Such scholarships generally cover 10 – 75 % of the tuition fee.

Finally if you have no other choice, you can apply for education loans in India. Several banks offer education loans of up to 30 lakhs. The interest rate for these loans is around 12 % and the repayment period starts one year after the completion of the course or six months after getting a job, whichever happens earlier.

Banks in the US gives loans to international students for education in the USA without security only if a citizen or green card holder with good credit history acts as their guanrantor.A good way to fund your education is a combination of the several options listed here.

If you wish to pursue your education overseas, make sure that you plan your finances before applying for admissions. Students will be given free guidance on the entry requirements of universities worldwide. Information on bank loans will also be provided.

My name is Sapna Singh and I had utilized the services of Edwise to pursue my Post Graduate studies abroad. As I entered their office I was not sure what I wanted to do exactly. Since the first time they introduced me to the counselor, guiding me each step of the way, till the very end. Starting from suggesting the courses, short listing the country and finalizing the universities/colleges, she was an excellent guide. Another best feature of Edwise is that you can take coaching classes and register for IELTS or TOEFL from there itself. It helps a lot when all the facilities are provided under one roof. I am more than happy with the services provided there. The promptness of everyone and the helpful nature made the experience with them unforgettable .Thanks a lot for everything! Says sapna Singh from Humber College, Canada.

We encourage students to come for counseling to our experienced counselors and also encourage them to meet University Canada representatives and get more information. We help students right from short listing the best suited universities to applications to Visas.

Attend Ed-Mission Canada Fair from 15th April to 30th April at select cities across India and meet the Delegates and get complete information before you apply. For more details, visit http://www.ed-missioncanada.com/index.html or Contact us on 08600911333.

Canada Universities

Canadians place great importance on learning, and have developed a first-rate education system with high standards. The Canadian education system encompasses both publicly-funded and private institutions. Canada Education universities are not officially ranked in Canada, as all Canadian Universities offer high quality programs. Over 92 public universities, and over 175 community colleges and technical institutes offer more than 18,000 programmes.  A Canadian degree, diploma or certificate is globally recognized as being equivalent to those obtained from the United States or the Commonwealth countries. Programs offered by Universities in Canada are the Bachelor Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates, Post Graduate Diplomas and Masters. Some of these programs are enhanced with a Co-op internship term with great emphasis on industry requirements.

The Canadian High Commission has a successful student friendly programme known as the Students Partnership Programme (SPP). This SPP program assists the students to get study permits faster. The Courses in Canadian Institutions are designed as per the requirements in Job market. The major intakes for studying in Canada are September, January and May. Students are allowed to work part time on campus for the first 6 months and off campus thereafter. The duration permitted is 20 hours per week on an upper limit. As per the recent immigration rules students graduating from a 1 year program are eligible for a 1 year work Permit and students applying for a 2 Year program can be eligible to get upto 3 years Open work permit.

Chris Slade, Dean of International Education, Lambton College states “With the changing demographics in Canada, the need for skilled workers continues to be strong. Upon graduation, many of our IT, Business and Engineering graduates are successfully utilizing the various work permits for federal and provincial immigration pathways designed for international students studying in Canada Institution.”

There has been a four-fold increase in the number of Canadian study permits issued in India in 2012 in comparison with 2008. Several students who went earlier from India have successfully completed programs, are currently working and have applied for permanent residency.

Ruminder S. Buttar, Manager of International Marketing & Operations, Thompson Rivers University states “Canada is a land of opportunities. Ranked as one of the world's best countries to live in by the United Nations. Canadian Institution offers a world class education system at an affordable cost. With a vibrant and healthy economy, students have an opportunity to work and settle in Canada.”

Students should not be misleading by unauthorised agents, subagents, immigration consultants, etc. about courses, job opportunities, work permits and permanent residency. They must ensure that they go to an Authorised direct representative like us - EDWISE.

Chinmay Deshpande who is pursuing his Bachelors in International Business at Humber College, Toronto says “The Canadian education system has shaped me and the experience has been wonderful and I will always cherish it. I' m grateful that I was assisted by professional counselors and had a perfectly smooth process unlike some students who were misled and faced a lot of difficulties here.”

The Positive environment has created a great demand at Universities in Canada leading to popular courses getting full in a jiffy. We officially represent over 60+ Public Funded Universities and Colleges in Canada and counsel for most of them.
